I think I finally got a good gig
I came off the road with Schneider after a couple months when I found out my girlfriend was pregnant with my first baby. I was looking hard for a good local job, but had some trouble finding something because of my work history. I ended up taking a job with a local freight company. It was brutal. They had me running a lot of 17-18 hour days. It made me very nervous because I didn't want to take the hit of the big ticket I'd get once I got caught.
I finally found some time to go to the DMV to get my hazmat, tanker, and doubles/triples. Two weeks later I land a job with Trimac Transportation hauling cryogenic liquid. Good sign on bonus, good salary, good benefits... finally.
I'm a week into it and I really like it so far. I plan on putting many years in with the company. Any of Trimac drivers here than can give me their experiences with the company?

Good luck with Trimac. Keep the job as long as you can, get to understand tanks as much as "Cryo" will allow. Once you have 18 months or so with Trimac..if it isn't what you expected it to be, then you can start knocking on the doors of Honeywell & BASF for driving positions. Both of them run company trucks out of St. Gabriel.

Good luck to you.
I just left Schneider after 15 months to run a local job that starts next week. It took me a while to land this job even after having 1 year with Schneider .

The training program is good I think. I'm about 2 weeks in with 2 more to go. Then after you get certified to go on your own they send you to Houston 4 days for corporate orientation.
Your pay during your training period is based on what your trainer makes. So, you make more training then they say it dips off a little until you get in the grove and get faster.
Two weeks in and I'm very happy.
