At Schneider if I remember right. You add ten percent to the paid miles then divide by 50 for the average speed.

Then you add or subtract an hour for each time zone you drive through.

It depends on what the speed limit is and in what part of the country you are in. I have been inspected and have never gotten a ticket or warning for logging 75mph in a 75 zone or 70mph in a 70 zone. I don;t see why anyone should be forced to log the minimum speed limit  . I have heard of drivers refusing loads claimimg it wasn't legal because they couldn't log 45mph going thru UT and WY and therefore couldn't drive 550 miles in 11hours in the summer.

I plan like Rev, I use 60mph, because it is easy math...then factor in additional time for unaccountable delays.

same here, I usualy go with 60 then just add an hour or 2 to it for breaks and other things that might pop up, gets me there early or on time pretty much everytime...also as mentioned on another post, knowing the areas you will be going to and going through will help give you a better idea of how much extra time to add on. I go through Atlanta alot and I have pretty much figured out how things will be at certain times of the day or night or where the problem ares are so when heading that way I can give myself a good idea of how much extra time i will need. Always leave plenty of room for problems, you never know when you will hit blocked traffic from an accident or have a tire go down, that extra hour can mean alot on some days.

I use 50mph and I also give myself a overall picture and then I'll divide #miles by 55mph and then #miles by 60mph. and the same for 65mph. I do that to account for various road conditions...road construction/traffic/traveling up hills etc.
