Verizon Wireless Ad goes,
Get verizon wireless BLAH BLAH BLAH, talk as much as you want, BLAH BLAH BLAH, and for all those truck drivers that have the 1-800 how's my driving sticker, I'll be calling that plenty. WTF,,,,,,,, why not just make a racial remark in thier ad??? The moron that authorized this commercial needs to come ride along with me on a 12 hour shift (maybe soak him in gasoline first) and i will point out couple of hundred a##holes driving 4 wheelers!! Then we go to his house where there are 2 or 3 semi's lined up and we take everything in his house that at one time was transported by a trucker and load it up for the dump, that includes the frigging house!! My house hold pays Verizon bout $250 a month for FIOS telephone, internet, TV, and family plan cell phones. They will be getting a phone call today to the complaint dept. and tell them to come pick up thier DVR and stick it where the sun don't shine cause it won't record our number 1 priorty show and demand the ad be pulled . If you use Verizon, make a phone call!! Whew!! glad i got that out of my system so when i call them maybe i won't use any foul language. PEACE OUT, 8) 8) FUELMAN

Seriously, haven't seen the ad but that one is bound to tick off more than a few people. Bunch of idiots in the ad department. :?

Yeah, that ad was pretty stupid.
However, it might have the opposite effect than you think. Yes, 10s of 1000s of people will probably start calling those "how is my driving numbers" just for fun. But this is what I think would happen....the Safety depts of these companies would start being overwhelmed with those kinds of calls and then end up not taking ANY of them seriously. Which in the long run would be a good thing for drivers.

Geez, I've been doing it all wrong. :? From now on, when I get the following: "Yer driver wouldn't get over and let me on the interstate!" "That YIELD sign isn't for me!" "I was following right behind yer truck and it threw a rock and cracked my winder!" "Yer trailer says REFLECTING QUALITY and it blinds me!" "Yer driver wouldn't let me pass him on the shoulder!" "Yer truck is only going 45 MPH in this construction zone!" "There's an accident ahead and yer driver is in both lanes, preventing me from passing!" Ad nauseum... As I said, when I get those calls, I will immediately see to it that safety is alerted and the driver is fired. :P And yes, those are just a few of the top complaint hits I've fielded over the years.

   In Seattle, at Arco, Chevron, Texaco, Shell, Exxon, and most of the common carriers...before cell phones became available, it was not uncommon for someone to call into a terminal and report that truck #1203 wouldn't let them on the road..or truck#1203 wouldn't let them off the road...or truck# 1203 wouldn't move over to the shoulder and let them pass, etc etc etc......
The placard number most fuel haulers run, is UN1203.   There were also lot's of complaints about truck #1993.....UN1993 is the most common placard of trucks that carry diesel only.

Those stickers are there for a reason! I know, I know, there are lots of four wheelers that needen't be driving, but how many truck drivers have you seen park their front bumper 12" from the back of a car full of kids? There are many truck drivers out here who are a hazard to everyone...I'm not sure it's "good" to ignore public input... but at the same time...I' be kinda pissed if someone called the number on my truck for no good reason....hrmm.... |
