Just wanted to share a couple of people pulling scams to prospective students. There working out of South Carolina. They are also working threw trucking schools.
O.k I don't want to bore you guys. Let me explain how this works. Ill also explain how me and the financial advisor at my trucking school got wind these guys were scaming. First, I got an E-mail from my school that had a list of companies hiring, and the qualifications. At the top of this list was a requiter representing PAM. His name was David White. So I called. We talked. Same ol' good stuff. We offer this, we got that. "And since we need drivers so bad( cause were growing so much) we are letting students go directly to training. After training you will go threw 2 days of orientation". Sounded fair, I guess. So we talked somemore. I asked a few questions. He knew all the right things to say. So we set it up for the trainer Mike Jacobs to come get me. David then said,"The only thing we require is a deposit that will be repayed once the driver picks you up". Now anyone would be suspicious at this point. So I asked why. He said," Well we've been having a problem with guys not being home when the trainer comes to get them. So the deposit is secuity for our company and our drivers for their time and gas used when coming to pick people up". Thats why they say you'll get it back if your home. Well after sending my $200, in which they wanted $300 (the total miles in gas from where he was coming from to my address). I sent the 200 western union to the trainers name Mike Jacobs. They never came! Started ignoring my calls and everything. I went down to the trucking school to ask If they check out these companies that call the school wanting to advertise through them. The financial advisos ask me why. I told him what happened. So we called PAM, yes PAM in AR. Before our financial could finish his sentence the man at PAM said, "let me guess this guy is David White". They said they have gotten complaints about this guy. He has been pulling this scam all up and down the East Coast. PAM told us that he has gotten people for as much as $1200 on the promise they will get it back when the driver gets there. Be aware this is a true story. My School put what I lost toward my remaing balence. A lot of people aren't so lucky. Hell Im putting his number in this forum too. I don't care sh*.t is wrong 843 333 2886 David White

I've heard of this scam before, but I have not heard that anyone has notified the proper authorities about it. Drop a quarter to the FBI. I think it might be their ball park.

He's been doing it for a couple years now. We don't even hire students and we've had him try hitting our drivers in orientation. Whoever he is, he's very knowledgable about the industry. My guess it's a former (or maybe current) outside recruiter with contacts into most of the major trucking companies. So he knows just what to say and what names to drop. And he's still doing it because drivers are still funding him. He's got to be making an absolute killing.

I heard about that also, my co driver overheard someone in a truck stop talking about that and tried to warn them against it. You should never have to send money to anyone for a job opportunity.
