Interesting. While I can understand that....the drug test is done for "employment" purposes....and to my knowledge there are no provisions regarding "students" being required to do it per the FMCSR's. Now, I went through school 15 years ago, and we were not required to do a drug test, and we drove on city and all other roads. Maybe its a "state" requirement, or a requirement that has been imposed in the past years since I got into this fray.
Maybe he meant DOT card but if people finance their training it might be a requirement along with the other reasons too. What i was wondering about is how somebody in a 4 x 4 plastic piss dike that SB mentioned can get behind a wheel? Let alone waddle to a truck and climb in ??
I think steve's at it again.

Didn't say anything about trucking, just fat people in general who are so fat they can't even find their weiner or wipe their ass.

No - he asked for: drivers license, DOT medical card, log book, permit book and latest DOT drug screen.

I know someone personally who does the drug testing. She gets people who come in on court ordered testing and the smell of chlorine to the max. What these people do is pour chlorine all over their hands before they come in. When they pee in the bottle they pour the pee all over there hands and back into the bottle. This contaminates the sample. My friend just smiles and finishes the test. She writes down on the test paper work that chlorine was detected.

She also takes a reading on the temp of the pee. If it's low she just smiles and finishes the test. She fills out the form that the test was void due to the temp of the pee.

All these failed tests go back to the employer and it's up to them what they want to do.

Some people who come in are required to pee in front of the male or female tech.

Some are required to give a blood sample.

Some people are sooooooo fat that they have to put a 4 foot by 4 foot litter type plastic box on the floor and the person just stands there and pees then they collect the sample.

A REPUTABLE drug screening place, has you wash your hands, empty your pockets and pee in the jar and immediately hand it to them, you then watch them split the sample, put the temp reader on it, seal it in a bag with your name on it and then you get a copy of the form and you leave, they will not ask if you take any prescriptions, IF it comes back positive, they will contact you and then you will be able to show if you have a prescription for whatever you tested positive for. this is how it is supposed to be done for truck drivers.
I think Steves friend works at a clinic just testing the general population

Hmmm, thats an interesting item....being asked for the "latest DOT drug screen".... Odd, but as many times as I have been through "Level 1's", I have yet to be asked for anything relate to a "drug screening". The only item that a driver gets from the drug screening is the form that is filled out that proves he or she completed it with a control #, but the driver, unless he or she is an O/O with their own authority never receives directly the results.
There is no card issued, or anything else.....beyond the absence of a message or phone call from Safety or management that says: "We need to talk"....

When I handed him the copy that the screening location gave me (the same paper you're talking about) he looked at it and said "thank you".

Now, something that could've made him ask me for it would be the fact that I was still in driving school, in a driving school truck, etc. It could've been nothing more than a scare tactic to "keep me straight" later on after I graduated. I've never been asked to show it to a DOT officer again after that, but I keep it in my truck anyway, along with my long-form DOT medical.

No idea.

Well pardon me but this is a trucking forum thread about a whiz quiz isn't it? Sorry to read into it. Anyway, thats still a nasty visual. But you were serious about the diking to catch a sample ? If so I would be looking for another job.

No - the DOT medical card is not your drug screen. You can go to a new driving job without having to get a new medical card, but you do have to have a new drug screen. The same goes for random drug screens. You don't get a new medical card for it.

The drug screen is a full size sheet of paper stating where it was done, when, by who, etc etc.
