All a headache rack is going to do is Maybe slow it down a little. i guess you could say most if not all headache racks are just there to make the driver feel safe.

I worked for a flatbed that carrier that had no headache racks on the tractors, and some trailers also had no head board.
I pulled a couple trailer with no head boards, and never got stopped by anyone. I also saw a guy around here not long ago, he had a 48 foot 4 axle trailer, hauling steel I beam's, they were hanging off the back about 6 feet and hanging over the frona few feet too. Probably a 60 foot load. He also had no headache rack on the tractor either! Talk about dangerous, when your pulling a load like that, it's as simple as, you crash, your dead! So don't crash!

I think they got the name headache rack cuz when you hang cains on there they bang around and give ya headache. Thats what i was told anyway.
