Default Which is better?

Can anybody help me with the pros and cons of pulling a curtain side trailer compared to a regular flatbed trailer?

One of the big advantages is that you don't need to mess with tarps. You can also haul some van freight is flatbed freight is scarce. You load a curtain side from the side as well as rear. The two major disadvantages for me is that I could not haul over-sized loads. The other thing is the high cost. Having a curtain side or something similar could cost about $15-17,000 over the cost of the trailer.

Hmmmm...given that you haven't even gone to school yet to get your CDL, aren't you putting the cart in front of the horse here??

I realize that owning your own is a great dream...but don't you think it's a good idea to have some idea of what it is your doing..before you do it? I realize that there are one or two on this forum whom have made the leap into the "Bigtime", but it isn't always a good idea to do it the way they did.

Go to school, learn how to drive, get your CDL, get a job, learn how to work, learn how to save, learn how to survive..then maybe jump into "Owning" your dream.

Why can't you go to the NE there kenworth? Personal preference or do you think those trailers aren't allowed there? I personally know of one company that runs the curtainsides up there on dedicated routes.

I just thought there was a law against curtain sides in the north.

Lots of them out west. That would be my preferance. Oversize is OK but I like legal loads better. The option to carry van freight is a real +
