Default Soft dirt + bobtail + residential area + rain = nasty

Well my first real stupid maneuverer, making a turn around in a residential area (thx to an accident and police redirecting traffic), and I see a small little access road that is perfect to turn around in, except for the fact I didnt realize its super soft wet dirt, so now I am sitting here waiting on a recker to pull me out... I tried EVERYTHING to get out of this hole, nothing worked, ohh well, you live and learn.

I rember back about 2 years ago I dropped a load off at out El Passo TX yard ,and headed up to MC'Donalds , And afer getting the MC' Donald I heaed back to the terminal ,But decided to get some paper towels So I pulled into the Flying-J parked ...most of their lot is loose dirt/stone...I came out pulled up to the road ans stopped for a car to pass ,And then let the clutch out only to feel my tires sink ...turns out someone got stuck here before and loosened the ground up real good ,And me being bobtail equaled stuck ...I called a wreck hto keep from wanging the crap out of the trucks clutch.tires,And transmission ...all he did was give me a slight push..I was on 11 western at the time ,And had a good dispatcher so this never went on my record,However had it been my $hit heel 48 state dispatcher it would be on my record .

I got it stuck at the house backing into the drive way which has a small hump ,and if you don't get it on the first try and stop on the hump your stuck requiring the use of a snatch strap . during the winter ibrining the truck home isn't even a sane option with the roads I live on .

There isn't a driver out there that hasn't gotten stuck in a bobtail. That is one advantage to a flatbed, always have a chain and always someone around that can give that little pull to get you going. I have done it twice.First time I got it out myself.Second time it cost me $10.00.

This happens all the time in the dump truck world. But the good thing is there is always a dozer or something near by to get you out. Try gettin stuck with 70,000lbs on your back. In soft mud up to the axles. Thats when stuff starts to break. But my mack has full locking rears so thank god for them. Plus that double LL tranny helps. You put that thing in LO LO it will get you out or just sit there and spin the tires. Just ease the clutch out it will do one or the other.
