so,,,, is there any advantage to driving a truck/trailer over a semi???

all i've ever heard is that they are good for tight station sites. I have been to about 70 different stations and have been able to get the semi into all of them with out much difficulty.( i give credit to the beer job for learning to navigate tight places)

my company has a brand new truck/trailer for the taking and one of my co-drivers is hounding me and the other driver to get this rig. he has 5 years experiance with truck/trailer and myself and the other driver none.

to me--- they look like a pain in the ass to back up!!!

any thoughts out there to advantages either way???

 

are you talking about a truck and a semi trailer vrs a straight truck. semi refers to a type of trailer. a semi trailer has axels on 1 end only. ain't no such thing as a semi truck, well, maybe a partial truck. other than that wise acre remark i do not know which would be better for you.

 

I think he is talking about a truck with a tank mounted pulling a single trailer versus a truck pulling a semi trailer only. To the original poster, I have no experience with the set up you are talking about. But I do pull a set of doubles all day and it does make tight spots easier when you bend in the middle like my set up. The advantage you would have is you could actually back up either set up, where if I have to back in other than a straight line I'm pretty well done.
