Default old trucking companies

What happened to these companies Thurston Motor Lines out of South Carolina, and B.I.C. Did Thurston become SouthEastern Freight Lines because I see they have the same color tractor and trailer as SEFL, and did B.I.C. become Yellow Roadway they also have the same color scheme. I was just wondering because I used to see these trucks all the time in the 80's. If any of you drove for them how was the ride in these trucks because there was no nose on the trucks and the cab was very slim in width.

Thurston Motor Lines was headquartered in Charlotte, NC. They became part of Brown Transport System in December 1987 according to Mike Terebecki's book II, "The Trucking Pioneers". In the same book, the demise of Brown is described. Brown purchased the financially ailing Thurston and proceeded to lose $33 million in 1989. They began to close terminals and became a truck-load carrier before they filed bankruptcy in 1990.
