My Uniden 68 would pull a 11 mile range with the factory antennas. It was only $75.

It is something Cobra came out. It is kind of like an automatic squelch. In my experience all it does, even when switched off, is limit the reception performance of the radio. Originally Posted by Redlight

I had 2 of the 29's with Soundtracker and I never could pick up another truck more than 1/4-1/2 mile even with it switched off and the squelched turned all the way down (or up) where I should have been able to hear anything within at least 5 miles.
I got rid of the 29 ST and put in a Uniden 78 and I could send and recieve for miles with the same antennas and coax.
I have talked to many drivers who had the same experience. Some bought the Uniden radios and others bought a 25 or 29 classic and the problem disappeared.

It is junk.... I know. I screwed up and bought one. Got rid of it, and started using my "old"....8 year old Uniden again. Works 100% better.Originally Posted by Mackman
