WTF is it with all the drivers I've spoken with At Werner that absoulutely hate Werner , But yet are sporting Werner T-shirts ...Werner Sweat pants...Werner Hats...Werner Belts ...Lanyards Ect . I have spoken to guys who were literly pissing on the tractor tires as they were turning in there keys ,but were sporting Werner brand clothing...

Just a random rant , As i think about my last 2.5 years OTR .

You get the same thing at other companies like Swift, Schneider, etc. Never really understood it myself. I could see it if they were like 5 year or 10 year employees and it was things accumulated over time, but I imagine the ones you are talking about are ones who have been there 90 days or something like that.

Maybe the newbies think that if they get all decked out in company apparel that they will get all the good loads, tons of legal miles, and have their fleet managers wrapped around their glad hands.

I never spent much money on company apparel. The most was $20 when I was with Swift and that was only because I was able to grab up 7 polo shirts for that and I was needing some shirts anyway.

That was in 99 and I still have 6 of them. Love to wear them when painting, changing the oil on the family cars, etc.

My first year I didn't make enough money to buy company shirts. Now that my wife and I are a team we bought some. A week later our company got bought out by Con Way. We only bought them because we don't go home much and I had been wearing the shirt from my previous employer. I worked for a cable company. I got tired of going into a shipper and them asking me if I was there to fix there cable. Once I said yes as a joke and the gentleman showed me to the tv room. He didn't think it was funny when I told him I was kidding. We only bought a couple of shirts each though because we aren't fans of our company either. But the cable thing had to go.

well, i worked for swift at the time, since they were company shirts and i wore them only for work i just wrote them off on my taxes. Mabe a law aganst it but at the time that was my logic behind it. also, since it had my name and company, it just looked a little more prof.

I don't understand why anyone would stay with a company that they didn't like, much less wear their clothing. :?

the main reason GMAN is to to get my wife her first year so we will both have enough experience to get a better job with a better company instead of making a parallel move to another first year company.

Hey World
I get the impression that many companies have changed the 1 yr requirement for experience down to about 6 months any more due to the need for drivers lately. Heck, some are saying 3-4 months.

a lot of the "first year" companies have but the companies we are really wanting to go to are 1 year at least. We are in a bit of a dilemma. We really want to leave and have the options of Interstate and a couple of others but I am really adamant about getting your first year at one company, this time for my wife. I also want her to go through a winter before we jump. But on a weekly, sometimes daily basis I find that my patience is running very thin with my current company.

I can understand that. Kinda glad I pulled the plug on our plans for there.
We have a couple of others options we are considering, but as I said, pretty much planning on IDC at the moment.
It should be "fun" starting our driving in the winter,,,oooooh boy!
How long has she been driving?
