Default Question about experience on a job app

I have an opportunity to work as an A Driver/Laborer. They have a full fleet but have the need for a part time gig driving so they are offering fulltime employment as a driver/laborer. If I were to apply at a new job in 3yrs down the road would I tell them that I have 3yrs experience driving w/ them? How would that work?

In the section of the application where it says "position held" (or something to the effect) write in there driver/laborer. Simple as that. How a company you are applying to will view it as far as adding up experience is anyone's guess and will probably vary greatly by company.

I would just simply tell them what you did, you had 3 years as a driver/laborer. You might not drive everyday, but you might not be a laborer everyday either. My opinion, yeah. You have 3 years driving experience. Just make sure if they road test you, make the 3 year experience convincing.

Experience requirements are a guideline from the insurance company.

The above post's are right. When I applied for my OTR job I had no experience. I had been a cable tech for 3 years and worked in a bank before that. The recruiter asked if I had ever been in charge of the safety and upkeep of a company vehicle that I alone drove. I said yes, as we took our cable vans/truck home. She said, "oh good, so you have driven before?" I told her I drove everyday! She asked what kind of truck I drove. I told her a Ford F150. I still to this day think she actually thought I drove a big truck because she then said, "Oh, that will really help because now we can show you have experience!" I wonder, now if I would have told her I also drive a Kio Rio, she might think that I also have experience as a circus clown!

Point is, if you apply for otr it will depend on the company whether or not they consider local or LTL work experience as experience. My company does not and they have you go to school. Others might. I think it should come down if you can pass the company drivers test or not.

I have 9 years experience. 4 of which was spent as a driver/helper for a moving company. When I left that job and started driving for a foodservice company, they said that I had for years driving experience. Now I work as a relief driver/warehouse man. Do I drive everday? NO. But if I ever look for another job(highly unlikely) they may count all the time as experience.
