Default My new job.

Well just got done my 1st week at my new job and so far so good. Am driving a 2007 Mack Grantie with only 32,000mi on it. My boss is anal about keepin the truck clean. Which in a way is a good thing. I had 41hrs in by friday so friday was all O.T. at 27hr (take that Venezia and your paid by the ton BS). I had 12 hrs in on friday worked the truck for 10 and then washed it and clean it real good and that took 2 hrs. I have Pictures i will post them as soon as i get up to the CVS to get them. I only been there for week but so far i like the job but a week aint really long enough to tell. Oh and it is only 2.4mi away from my house. So thats what the new job is all about.

Well hopefully those few weeks on percentage helped you figure out it's for the birds, i did it for a total of 2 weeks i believe, before i said the hell with it. Same deal as you, dry bulk tankers, i worked 14 hours one day, pulled three loads across the state of florida for 112 dollars, i saw that and had to run, not walk away as fast as i could. Percentage might work well for OTR guys, who are making good on those long runs, but for local work, it just don't work itself out.

BTW miller how fast could you off load a dry bulk tanker. The best i could do would be 1hr 15mins. Sometime it took me over 2hrs. All that off loading time really sucked. But as Venezia told me it was all built into the rate.

Unloading time vary depending on how long of a "push" it is. I can blow off into a blimp (pig) in 25min, but on a long push 100+ feet it takes me about an hour to hour and a half. We have to give the customer 1 1/2 hour for unloading starting from the time we arrive. Anything after that is billed as delay time at 15.00 an hour.

But I too am keeping an eye out for a good gig that pays by the hour, because I'm tired of working 60-70 hours a week and bringing home 550-650 a week. I also know my TM is a member on this board and he should know that I bust my ass every week and to me and my wife it isn't worth the pennies I work for.

It takes me right at an hour and fifteen minutes on a perfect day, but if it plugs, which it has the tendency to do, it can take upwards of two hours. My company only uses their tank for the one material, it's a 40mesh rubber material, we're a tire recycling company, and to make a long story short we eventually grind the rubber to a consistency of almost ash like cement. I take it to Tampa where they use it in hot asphalt. There's no short cuts though, it's one pod at a time, 30 minutes for the 1st, and 15 minutes for the other three, like i said though, that's best case scenario. BTW, sorry it takes so long to get back, my computer's been down, so i gotta use the one at the library in the evenings.
