It's been a few months since I've been back in a tractor trailer, ever since I got out of truckdriving school. So I may be a bit rusty if I get hired. But that's not the problem.
The problem is, they only showed us one time how to hook the truck up to the trailer, and while I could probably learn after a few tries, I currently DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DO THIS. Will this be against me when I try to get employed? ops: ops:
I believe I'd go back to that "School" (Term used loosely) and tell them that they owed me a little extra instruction. If they choose to blow you off, I'd immediately report them not only to the DMV but to the carriers whose posters grace their walls.
I realize most "Schools" suck, but this is ridiculous.

If I didn't , whatever... Just ask a trucker, don't be shy, make small talk and be nice, tell him/ her you want to try it and I'm sure they will help you, hey tell them you'll grease their truck... Good luck, no worries
Yea they should have showed you coupling/uncoupling for sure...if they didn't i would ask them to show you this ...
COLT is right .....asks a trucker at a truck stop ..most are pretty friendly and are glad to chat with a new driver or chat with anyone for that matter....lol
Schools are like a introduction to trucking and justs show you how to pass the test basically you would/should get more training after you get hired on by a big company..
A good school goes over everything and gives you the confidence to get on the road.Sounds like you got a school that justs helped you get the cdl...is this the case....

At the school I'm in now they showed us how to couple/ uncouple on day 2. We finish off every day by uncoupling the trailers and start every day by doing a pre trip and then coupling up.

Moultrie Technincal College.
Although it's a 10 week course, the majority of it was spent on the course backing and whatnot. (The first 2 weeks were spent studying to get the Class A Learners permit). And we only got in 12 hours of driving time. Plust they actually told us that the main goal was being able to pass the test.
Now, it's a pretty good school and all with some good instructors (although they get a little cranky if you make a mistake ;D) they just didn't show us how to couple and uncouple very much.
(That big black truck I had in my sig, that's the one we drove over the road)
