The big thing is to carefully listen to the examiner and give him what he is asking for/telling you to do. If you do not understand be sure to ask for clarification.
I have seen more than one driver fail because they did not listen to the instructions given or because they did not understand and did not want to look like an idiot by asking for clarification.

Just do what you know how to do.
Make sure you know the airbrake test, and how to explain what your doing also. And dont forget to test your air horn and city horn during the inside pretrip. Good luck. As long as you can keep it between the lines, know all your pretrip, and can back it in the hole, you'll be fine.

You already know how to drive the truck, you've been trained and the do's and dont's. Treat this as just another training day! Save all the coffee and mountain dew or those toilet water energy drinks for AFTER the test! Just go out and drive the truck.. Now this is important!!!!
DO NOT drag a simple screw up throughout the test course! If you screw something up.. LEAVE IT THERE!!! There is a good chance that the thing you goof up is in a "non graded" area or task. While there are several rights and lefts during the test, for the most part, you are graded on only four of each! If you screw up, acknowledge it and move on! Move your head and not just your eyes! Mention everything! -Descriptive driving will always make you score higher! Watch your speed! Speeding on the CDL test is an instant fail! Just remember to BREATHE and it will be over before you know it,,, Come back tomorrow and gloat and accept the congrats!!!

the main thing is, WATCH YOU CRITICALS!
as long as you can control the truck safely, without running over curbs, running red lights, stalling the truck (remember your splitter) driving too slow or too fast, disobeying traffic signs, and slamming on the brakes to hard. you'll be fine. your not expected to be a super trucker on test day. good luck. see you on the road  |
