What type of trailer to haul??
There was a somewhat similar question on this but I want to see if we can get more detailed...
In peoples opion, what is the best type to haul, reefer, dry van, flat bed??
Why do you think one is better than the other? less work, better pay, more demand? Is one more popular than the other?

I prefer a flat bed or step deck. Shippers and/or receivers are more likely to be glad to see you, the pay is generally better and you can get some exercise. I prefer being outdoors. Open trailers, such as flats and steps offer that opportunity. It is also much more challenging. You must have more knowledge of how to properly secure a load to keep it on the trailer. Each load is different. Of course, you could say that to some extent with a van or reefer. Throwing a tarp in a 30 mph wind can be a trip.

Flatbed, no questions asked.I had rather wait to get loaded at a pipe yard, then any grocery warehouse. Shippers and receivers are alot more nicer and easier to get along with and appointment times are alot more realistic.I have never loaded or unloaded in the dark.

i'd have to say flatbed also, even though i have never hauled one... i worked at a lumber yard for a while, and i enjoyed unloading them compared to vans.... plus you get some MUCH needed exercise, theres plenty of time to sit in the truck

If I were a young man looking for a long career I would be a flatbedder with an eye for heavy hauling.
I am not. I'm an old guy finishing out his last three years of work life, who is working for a local manufacturer traveling the Southeast.

Seriously though, I'd say flatbed. Kinda easier to back up too. No trailer walls keeping you from seeing whats on your other side.

double 28's. You don't have to swing way out to make a turn. Shake 'em good once or twice and nobody rides beside you either. Plus they pay better. Just don't miss your turn!!!!!!!!
