I have had to write my truck up for the SECOND week for the parking brakes failing the tug test! (They SAID they adjusted them.) I'll be sure NOT to leave the yard this week unless it passes! Thanks, again!

They must be doing their own thing, because the CVSA Nationwide Brake round-up ended yesterday (9/1/07).

Your truck and trailer does not have automatic slack adjusters, that adjust when you do a proper pump down test? Thanks, again!

ops: Heck if I know!!! I have a shop that maintains my truck EVERY week when I bring it in. My pretrip is a bit anemic! I DO check the slack adjusters, and I DO a tug test. But, I DON'T do a "lab test" or "pump down" every week! All that will tell me is if the alarms are working, and I know they ARE! I don't usually turn on my windshield wipers and heater during a pretrip, either! Nor do I toot my horn! I guess I SHOULD do all this..... but.....  IF doing a pump down test somehow FINISHES the job of "adjusting" the brakes that my shop was supposed to do..... then I'm not aware of it. Sorry.... I went to a CDL Mill!! I'm not a mechanic. I'm a driver. I do enough of a check on things to know when something isn't right or safe. But, I don't know a selfadjusting slacker from a "shop" adjusted slacker!! I don't work on my REEFER, either! But, I know when it's not working right! That's when I CALL a mechanic to fix things. BTW, I DO know HOW to adjust my brakes, (and have done so a time or two,) I just don't consider it my job (unless in an emergency situation.) I never claimed to know everything about trucks or trucking, so.... if you can tell me something about how doing a lab test "adjusts" my brakes.... I'm ALL ears! Thanks! Hobo
