I have a friend who drives that uses sprint. It seems like anytime he calls me while going thru mountains he loses signal, but he has used them for years before he drove a truck and satys with them. I use verizon and I like it, and I think it works better. I remember he told me after he got back from a trip with his trainer that his phone wouldn't pick up, so he had to use his trainer's phone (verizon). :lol: not long after I started drivng a truck I switched to verizon.

Hubby had nextel and it sucked; now we both have Verizon & he has service just about anyplace (he drives mostly west); Cingular was our 2nd choice.

I'm quite happy with my Sprint service. Have been with them about 4 years now.

I have been coast to coast with Verizon and rarely did I not have a signal. I made sure to purchase a tri mode phone just in case I ended up on some back water analog tower, but I think that only happened twice.

cricket = glorified walkie talkie

T-Mobile = looses signal if you drive past someones house who hasnt cut their grass in 4 or 5 days.

Verizon & Cingular (now AT&T) I have found are very similar, as I have had both at the same time. Though Cingular claims to have the least dropped calls, I've had verizon for about 3 years now, and its pretty much top of the line as far as my experience go's but also, can suck too if you get a sucky phone. I would HIGHLY suggest the Motorola V325i. It's a little bulkier and less pretty than most of the others, but I know several drivers who have it and all agree that it's the best by far. The Razors suck. Period. Nice and pretty for your Jr. High son or daughter but suck for a trucker.

There ya go

I have Sprint/Nextel. I was a Nextel customer before the merger. So I guess I've been with them for about three years. I now have the hybrid phone that came out this year. It uses the Sprint network for voice calls and the Nextel network for Direct Connect. No more dropped calls like I would get on Nextel. I don't see myself ever changing from Sprint. I also use their broadband card for my laptop.

My brother and I are both truckers. He has Verizon... I have Sprint. I can't say which is better, but when I bought my phone (and service) the map of the West showed fewer "vacant areas" on Sprint than on Verizon.

Go to Radio Shack and compare. They have maps that show the service areas of each provider they sell (which is most.) Unless Verizon has increased their area, Sprint had MUCH better coverage around the country. ALL of them are a bit slack in the SouthWest part of the country.

I pay $5 extra to have my nights start at 7pm Eastern Time, and $5 extra for each block of 100 minutes over my limit. Roaming is INCLUDED.... this is a MUST!!!
