I just got laid off from my job and decided to try something completely different. I am 45, retired Navy Chief, never had a DUI, haven't had a moving violation in 20 years, never done drugs, no convictions of any type. ( I am starting to sound like a boring old man.)
How about some advice for an older newbie like me. Oh, school is covered. Community college 6 week program for $1600 and the GI Bill will take care of that for me.

Jay ... sounds like your set. You have nothing to worry about except getting your CDL. I'm 57 and getting into trucking myself. I've learned a lot just reading these post and posting sometimes stupid questions. Seems to be a lot of companies to stay away from but there's a hand full that are really good for us starting out. Just keep posting and reading other post on here. You'll do good. Good luck
