Other than paperless logs, what technology are they exactly selling on? All big carriers have the same stuff. The make and color of a truck may be different, but all in all they are the same.

And from a personal perspective, I would NEVER want them. Just like someone else said. You will learn why.

I want to make the most amount of money in the shortest period of time.

OTR should be paid by the hour, because it labour job.

Actually, Evinrude, paying "by the hour" alone would only serve to lower oroductivity; paying on an hourly basis would only serve to reward the foot draggers and penalize the hustlers.

Paying by the mile isn't a bad thing, but the pay should be based upon practical miles, not HHG miles.

I DO believe that drivers should be paid hourly for loads & unloads, and they should also be paid a just wage for fingerprinting as well. I also think that a driver should be paid for breakdown time.

The only way these things will happen is with a return to regulating the trucking industry. but then you here companies and drivers screaming about government intervention.

I chose quality equipment.

The last OTR jobs I took were perfect for this. I was in a situation where money was not a huge deal. I had driven a dumpy truck for JB Hunt and Shipper's Transport, so I didn't want that again.

I don't know what "Equiptment" is, but that is what I casted my vote for

If I had a choice between a 2005 International 9900ix getting paid .34 /mile or a 1995 Freightliner Classic and get paid .44 /mile I'd take the nicer truck (the 9900ix) even if it was for lesser pay. IMHO the extra money isn't worth it to be uncomfortable or stressed out driving down the road.
