Not driving anymore, but have a wife and a daughter, and ran OTR. It was always hard saying good-bye, especially to my daughter.!!

Have a wife and two kids 13 and 11, run otr.
and they are well adjusted, and doing great in school. Happily married for 19yrs. Guess that blow's the theory that all driver's are divorced and screwed up.

I have a wife of 14 years, 11 years old twins. I do OTR and I miss them when I am gone, but with all the computer technology these days, they are never too far away. Plus I take them with me during the summers. To me that's the best part. Getting to spend 24 hrs. a day with them and experience many new things.
I would't want to do anything else.

Wife and two kids ( 10 and 13 ). Drove OTR until I had enough exp. to go local with a good company.
Do you have a wife and kids? If you do, I know all the thoughts that are going thru your head.

Im married 20 yrs, to 10 different women. Have 222 kids and want to drive for stevens then lease at CR England when I am retarded.. i mean retired. Hopefully my trainers will be brian griffin, or maybe even radio ray. Im gunna get rich quick, see the country, be home every night and make 99k a yr just like the ads on the trucks say....
OK, Im medicated now. In reality 20 yrs to same women.Don't know how she does it? 2 daughters 11 & 16, My wife is a saint. Both kids are great students, computerologists, oldest has her first job and saving for a car. Been doing 800 hours of overtime annually in addition to regular shifts the last 8 yrs so they are use to me being gone. Same job for the last 21 yrs at Fire Dept. 24 hours on and 48 off. The pay and benny's are great. It's a young mans game. I am 47. Presently working on ALS engine w AFFF foam stationed next to airport, and driving tankers on and off. Also teach driving on duty. HOS regs would be welcomed after the BS i have seen and dealt with. Not to mention sleep deprivation w maybe 2 hrs on a good night. I rode with my my dad who drove throughout NE with a straight truck hauling antiques. Weirdest load was homing pigeons from Orleans Mass released in downtown Philly. When I told my dad I wanted to drive OTR at 17 he went apeshit on me and I went in the USN instead. Obviousley, I still have the bug. Looking to pay my OTR dues and eventually get a regional gig to keep health ins and other befefits of course in my next life and put kids through college.I have been talking about this for the last 10 yrs w family. Driving the same road might get old. But who knows.... I can evaluate the opportuinities as they arise. Like Dollarshort said. Modern technology prevails which we all know doesn't take the place of being w family. The computer and CAD members have also provided the opportunity for me to be tuned in and learn alot during my 2 week vacation. For that I appreciate everyones time, help and effort. Sunday it's back to the (wrecks) grinders, fires and you name it...Yea when it's time..I think im ready to do a good job driving, pack my tools, 12 volt cooler, laptop in a shiney new big truck and head out. With a trainer of course.
