Check out the local mail contractors in your area. Some are union, but either way they are obligated by federal law to pay a prevailing hourly wage. I used to work Saturdays and Sundays on a dedicated mail run grossing $269.00 for 2 days work. Add that up - that's $14,000/year extra - basically a new car. Better yet, plow that $$$$ into a mutual fund over 10 years and you'll have $200,000 salted away.
I got out of it because I was having problems with the logbook. Remember, any hours worked on the weekend go against your 60/70 for the week. Also, I was getting sick and tired of working weekends. I'll never work weekends again - not for any amount of money.
Before the mail gig, I drove for a major hospital system shuttling patients to-and-from airports and hotels. One of the guys I work with drives a limo for a high-end stripclub in town. He's got all kinds of stories about people having sex and doing drugs in the back of the limo. If you're interested in anything involving passengers, make sure you get the -P- endorsement on your CDL.
Contact temp agencies in your town - they've got a list of companies looking for local for-hire temp drivers. There's usually a decent amount of work because most guys don't like working weekends.
