Default Front axle pushed forward

I've noticed that some trucks like the KW W900 & Eagle 9900i have their front axles pushed all the way to the front. What purpose does this serve ? Doesn't it affect manouverability adversely, since it increases the wheel base ? Also, if something were to strike the front bumper, wouldn't it hit the tires too since the tires are so close to the front bumper ?

Yes it will take you more room to manuveur these trucks but once you get used to it it is not a big deal. I have never had anything hit my bumper so I can't help you on that one but that does make since. I do know that if you hit something and you have a nice big shiny bumper I have seen those pushed back into the tires.

Set forward axle improves the ride, set back axle improves manuverability. It's a tradeoff.
