Default Experience too old?

Not really a new driver but seems like I'm stuck in the middle. My experience is 1.5 yrs out west. I'm looking to get back in the seat. I haven't driven since March of 2001 and the trouble is everyone (recruiters) I've talked to, say my experience is too old. Anybody know a good company out west that runs Arizona, Washington, California and (this is a big one) Iowa? Thanks

How recent experience is needed to get hired on with a carrier varies.

keep calling around but you might need a "refresher" course, but still keep calling.

Unfortunately, most carriers require experience in the last 3 years. You may be able to take a refresher course or perhaps find a training company where you can run with a trainer for a few weeks to get back into the swing of things. CRST, Covenant, US Xpress, Millis, Roehl, Schneider, Swift are several which come to mind. The main problem is insurance. The insurance companies pretty much dictate whom we can hire to drive our trucks. Mine requires a minimum of 2 years experience in the last 3 years. There are several recruiters who frequent this board whom you may want to address your concerns or send them a pm. Sheepdancer and Twilight Flyer are recruiters with different carriers.
