You'll most definitely run as a them.

Seriously, a good trainer will watch you a lot at first (you will do most of the driving). Later on, if he feels comfortable riding with you as a team, you'll share the driving duties.

Unless Crete has changed its training policy, the entire time a student is on a truck, the truck is dispatched as a solo driver operation and the trainer is required to be in the passenger seat the entire time the student is driving.

This may be true, but my Crete trainer started sleeping behind me within two days, once he saw I was a safe driver and knew how to drive on ice/snow. In a week and a half I became the night crew. Also with Crete you as a trainee are not supposed to drive between 1:00 and 5:00 a.m. This was ignored also.

In orientation ask these questions and if things are not done as explained call Brent the Training head and ask for a new trainer. Also you are entitled to go home while on training, this will not extend your eight weeks, take a break you will need it. Do not let your trainer hookwink you on this issue as I was.

You should have talked to the training coordinator in Lincoln. He would have put a stop to that kind of training.

Before I hired on with Crete I specifically asked if it was team training. I was told it wasn't. Once out with my trainer he wanted me to drive while he slept or what ever he did with the curtains drawn. We did that several times, but not all the time. My trainer and I didn't see eye to eye on some issues so I fired him and got another after a couple of weeks. I would be too scared to let some nuub just out of driving school drive me around in a 80000# vehicle. The next trainer was very knowledgable and I learned a lot. Once into the 5th week we did start some team training and I was glad for it. I was in the front by myself w/o getting the evil eye everytiime I did something stupid. The last week of training I ran the truck on my own. My trainer just sat in the back and chilled. As I said, in the beginning I didn't want any team training. By the time we actually started doing teaming I was ready for it and couldn't wait. If you get with a trainer that you don't think youre getting the mentoring you think you should, ask for another one. Someone also mentioned that home time counts towards your 8 weeks training. That's not accurite. Training will be extended for any home time. I spent 8 days home spread thru-out my training period (the luck of having a trainer that lived nearby) and my training was extended by that amount of time. The good thing is that you get paid while at home.
