Pretty much what I do now :lol: I dont buy into this lifestyle crap. Its just a job. My lifestyle is home with the family.

You must be home a lot more than most OTR drivers. On average, a driver will be away from home 12-14 days and home 30-40 hours, then right back out.

My home is in my truck. I go visit the people living in the house I'm paying for.

As for the extra weight, who cares? I get paid by the mile, not by the pound. If a load is over 45,000lbs, I can't put it on my truck. Removing the 10# worth of cooler & sodas, 10# for my laptop, and maybe 30# worth of other stuff in the truck will not make a difference.

Maybe you should have your company remove the passenger seat, the bunk(s), the cabinets, etc. Better yet, get a day cab with only the drivers seat.

Why would anyone NOT want to have some type of entertainment when there are times you KNOW you will be doing a lot of sitting around?

Not me I'll be sitting in the truck drinkin ice cold red diamond sweet tea, watchin a dvd, eatin something i just cooked in the truck ,talking to the wife on the cell phone ,posting here on the web with my laptop, I'm gonna be enertained when in my truck

I avoid drivers lounges . Unless it serves beer........it aint a lounge. :lol:
As far as being home, I'm home 2 days for every 14 out. I dont look at a truck as a home, I dont look at it as a lifestyle, face it, its a job, nothing more nothing less. Like I said, my home and my family is my "lifestyle" and if you have kids, you'll know its far more challenging than drivng a truck.

I don't agree with you on the cooler. It's worth the weight, worth the fuel it costs. Though in my current job I don't carry the cooler, just a lunch box with ice packs and a day's worth of food and drinks.
