I heard from another driver this week in Jersey that if your truck is equiped with a tripac, or similar device that you are allowed 400 pounds more on your gross weight, and also your drives... Is this true???

Yeah, it's true. You are allowed up to 400 pounds or the certified weight of the APU over 80,000, fuel not included. So if you had a 435 pound APU you could legally gross 80,400, but with a 370 pound PowerPac you could gross 80,370.
You must have a certified manufacturer's weight either by a spec sheet or an ID plate. -p.

A Tri-pac is a brand name of an APU.....Aux Power Unit.
