Default Tipac's and weight

I heard from another driver this week in Jersey that if your truck is equiped with a tripac, or similar device that you are allowed 400 pounds more on your gross weight, and also your drives... Is this true???

I've heard the same here on CAD, and I think it is true.

It's an APU unit, I think Tripac is the brand name on it but I'm not sure.

Yeah, it's true. You are allowed up to 400 pounds or the certified weight of the APU over 80,000, fuel not included. So if you had a 435 pound APU you could legally gross 80,400, but with a 370 pound PowerPac you could gross 80,370.

You must have a certified manufacturer's weight either by a spec sheet or an ID plate.

A Tri-pac is a brand name of an APU.....Aux Power Unit.

Tripac is the yellow mailbox at the truck stops. You use Tripac to send your invoices back to the company office. :P
