That was happening to me also until someone told me to shut up and that they were sick of hearing me talk. I was ready to replace my radio and thought I had the same problem as you.

Me three on the mic. I've had this happen quite often. I'd check that its screwed in really tight first, and then I'd take it apart and make sure the four wires on the inside are connected well. After that, I'd probably swap in a new mic.

Or you could just take it to one of the 40,000 CB shops that have sprung up lately. They have a gorgeous girl behind the counter, and over 3,000 noise toys.

I think CB stores should be shot for selling noise toys.

I got a little bitty midland radio with as few knobs and switches as possible.

I bought a new mic without any success. I did have a bit of an inspiration, I plugged an external speaker into the pa output, switched the switch from cb to pa and keyed the mike. I can hear my lovely voice coming from the speaker with the old mic but not the new one  .

I could hear people just fine before this next one.

Found that the connector to the antenna was loose, tightened it all up.

Now I can barely hear anybody. I got frustrated with it last night so me and the Mrs. went walking and I decided I would go back later today and do some more things to it?

The new mic may not be the right mic for your radio. Make sure that it is compatible for your radio. If your old mic is working, and you hear it through the P.A, I would use the old one.

It sounds like you need a new coax end(RF connector). You can get a coax end at Radio Shack. If they ask you if you want the screw on, or the cramp on, get the cramp on. It's a 2-pack.
