Fancy Gap
#22
The only time that I've ever been scared on Fancy Gap (and I couldn't even start to count the number of times I've went up/down it) was when I lost my headlights one night.
I'd just topped the mountain coming down. It was about 2am, so no traffic and I was runnng my high-beams. As I started down, within maybe 1 mile I hit fog and hit the dimmer switch. That's when the stupid thing decided to melt and kicked off my headlights. The only light I had to see with was my four-ways. Long trip to the truckstop at the base of the mountain running like that.

Now I know where you're talking about. Fancy Gap is a piece of cake man. Nothing to sweat about. If I remember correctly I never even had to drop a gear, just stabbed between 55 and 65 IIRC. I was fully loaded and had no problems. Now let's go over the grapvine, cabbage patch or I-90 in Idaho and Montana and then we're talking serious grades.

One night, me and Earl hauled a load of chickens down to Wiggins. It was all the way down to Pagossa Springs.
