always err on the side of caution, let the others blow by you and wave at them on the bottom when they are setting ther with there brakes smoking

Let me tell you something, If my brakes are smoking you wont see me sitting on the side of the road like you trying to cool them off, Haul as^ and they will cool themselves off all by themselves PERIOD!!!!!!

another thing, if you find yourself going a wee bit quick down the hill, do a "two foot technique"

That is, use your left foot on the brake, and right foot on accelerator to downshift. That way you don't gain any speed while downshifting.

second day of training I hit the blueridge mountains and it scared me for awhile. My trainee was asleep. Going down watch the speed signs if they drop to say 50 coming into a turn make sure you look at you speedomoter, it can feel like 60 and you look and your going 80 downhill depending on your load. Just watch signs, gauges, other truckers speeds and dont be afraid to ask truckers on the CB, I got alot of help that way going thru Vail Pass and also Nevada. Most truckers are very helpful

I don't remember where I saw this ( so I could give credit ) but:

You can go down a hill too slow a thousand times, but you can only go down it too fast once.
