There is nothing wrong or sinister about making a profit. Profits mean more jobs and higher wages.

Finally someone who gets it!!! A strong company will turn profits into investments that EVERYONE will bennfit from.

Thanks for the laugh!

The truth is the mega companies like the big turnover rates. It keeps wages down, the unions out, and best of all they can claim a "driver shortage" and lobby the government to get more imported drivers behind their wheels.

I don't see it as a good thing at all. I think that Moyes's motives were more ego driven than anything else. That's not a good thing.

No, I do not believe that it will bode well for Swift drivers.

While I don't know much about Swift or Jerry Moyes, I'll bet this will be the best thing that has happened for Swift ( and esp. its' people ). I know of no other major company were the founder took the company public and then bought it back.

Actually, G-Man, Charles Scwabb did that very thing with Charles Scwabb investments back in the 1980's!!

Useless, I believe it was Ridge Runner who made that statement. There have been a few companies who have gone back private after being publicly traded. Most stay public, but it does save a lot of paperwork by being private. A privately held corporation doesn't have to endure the same scrutiny as a public corporation. We have a company based here that was listed on one of the major exchanges. They went private several years ago. At one time they owned a company that manufactured most of the brake hubs for the automobile industry. If I remember correctly something like 90% at one time. They have since moved those operations to Mexico. They are also involved in oil exploration and other enterprises. It is one of those companies you never hear about but makes tons of money. 8)

With Jerry profit means only profit.

You all are forgetting one thing.

Wages and driver issues were not even remotely addressed while Jerry headed Swift last time. It was not until he stepped down with the SEC hot on his trail that there was several wage increases, the trucks were turned up, and efforts were made to address many common driver complaints.

While a business needs to make a profit, it should not have to walk over its employees to do it.
