we are required to take drug and alcohol ramdom test as commerical drivers. but our company does not pay for the time it takes for the testing. I feel we should be paid for our time when it's mandatory for these test. what is your opinion? does your company pay for your time?

That kinda goes hand in hand with..... it's mandatory to do a PTI, fuel, ect, and don't get paid for it. Would be nice if we/you were paid for everything like these, but it's kind of like tossing money out the window until you have a local gig, paying cpm and hourly. I don't know if the Co. I'm going with pays it or not, guess I will find out soon enough.

If your employer is requiring to to do something like drug testing or training, you should be compensated for your time. But the sad reality in OTR is that nobody respects your time. Not shippers, receivers or even your employer

That would be nice if they would especially considering you can get stuck at the lab for awhile at times

When I drove nights hauling doubles for Toy's R Us, they had the manager give everyone an alcohol test with some chemically treated Qtip once. That was clue #1 of how much of a 3rd rate crap outfit they are-can't even give a proper drug test. I only wish I had eaten a big bag of Funyons or some stinky cheese that day.
