I write back to them and tell them that there is no way I can get there in time, is that acceptable? I wanted it written down so that they couldn't mess with my DAC or anything like that. Anyhow, they didn't respond. An hour later I get a message 'Are you in route?' I tell them no, I want clarification that me being late to the shipper will not look bad on me. They wouldn't do it, we play a few more rounds of this nonsense, and finally took me off the load.

Several months ago when I spoke to Swift and Schneider I specifically asked about a time obligation or being charged for the driving school. Schneider said the training was a company owned facility in Fontana (?) area and in California that was not a requirement and if I didn't stay I would not have to pay for the education I received. Swift on the the other hand was working with an "independent" school in the Sacramento area (I'm sure they have a SoCal setup as well) and that my obligation was to the school and I would have to repay the "school loan" to Swift. So dig deep for the program that is right for you. Bill

Alot of posts and horror stories on Swift. Can't believe guys making what they state in the posts. When I started driving it was with KLLM and we were paid .21 for 90 days and .23 for while and made it to .25 or .26 at one year. I made 32k first year including training period and that was in "92. The new guys now are making .34 on first day solo and making 45k first year if they will work.
There are other places to start driving other than the super big boys. One thing about a smaller company is that they want and NEED the trucks moving so the miles will be there along with the income. Would stay away from the super big outfits and go with a good sized company you will have alot better luck and success.
