One year from now I plan on getting back into trucking after I get married and things calm down. Back in oct of 2005 I went to trucking school and then went off to Hogan transport. But I got cold feet and I just wasnt ready for it. I was in training and every thing. I only was on Hogans payroll for 1 week and then I quit. I just wasnt ready at the time and didnt want to make the leap. I was 21 at the time ill be 23 when I start it again. Do you think ill have a chance to get with another company I should problly get a DAC report and see what is on it. I posted this a awhile back but just want to make sure. Someone said I wouldnt have a problem getting another job cause I really wasnt a driver yet.

Yes, I would get a copy of your DAC and see exactly what is on it, that way you will not get turned down because info does not match.

One thing you need to be prepared for is that a lot of companies are going to tell you that you will need a refresher course before they will consider hiring you.

IMHO bailing before you're under any real responsibility is probably for the best overall.

I did that at the concrete job I had for nine miserable days. I knew I wasn't going to hack it, so I bailed before they cut me loose from training. (Training went a long time because I spent most of the time painting a boiler or climbing up five stories of ladder to go beat down the natural sand that was clogging in the feed head. Goodness gracious, pouring concrete is a miserable living.)

Anyway, that little bailout didn't keep me from getting my current gig, but I didn't sit out as long as you have either. Only a week or so before I got the ball rolling on the new gig, and then another two to get the deal sealed.

You'll probably have to do a refresher, but I don't think quitting in the middle of training is likely to hurt you in of itself. Better that than quitting under a load you're responsible for.

The concern your post brings up for me is less about the process of developing your driving skills ... and more about developing your emotional skills.

I've always felt that the early 20's can be the worse time in a young man's life. Just getting into the water ... and life dumps you smack into the deep in right away. (Or so it feels.)

You might not like this .... but a ton of opportunities will come at you and you'll never be ready for them if all you're operating on is your own self will. Sorry folks, but in this old 53 year old's opinion, ya just GOTTA get close to God. Ya jus gotta. How can you have faith without it? Calms you down and puts your priorities in place.

That's my two cents.

Hobo, you wouldn't be confusing him with me, would you? The pic of me in uniform was when I was 30. :P Accurate pic... :lol: :lol: BTW, I'm 35 now and I only did 3 years in the Army.

Not trying to be a arse but I wasnt asking how I felt with my emotions I can do that myself.
