The M.O.T. doesn't want you to hit curbs etc. Bad shifting /grinding (sometimes) is acceptable, gear recovery is important(no coasting in neut), take left/right turns no higher than 4th.
Turning right from a double lane to a double lane -start turn to the leftmost side of your lane, turn the tractor right as late as possible into 2nd lane, straighten, watch trailer tandem come around corner, immediately go for curb lane once tandems have cleared corner..
Turning left to a double lane - aim tractor into curb lane, watch trailer tandems, as soon as tandems are in the new direction swing tractor into left lane, accelerate and signal move to right and do it when traffic is clear.
Your instructor should supply this guidance..if they're any good they will help correct mistakes.
The pre trip is key to passing the test. Verbalize everything you look at ...secure, not damaged, no missing parts, no loose fasteners, wires in good shape, no leaks......Once you pass that, the pressure is off and you can concentrate on your driving. It's normal to be nervous...no one likes tests. Good Luck
