I know for a fact ( here) Wal-Mart requires 2 years OTR.
I'm wondering if this is another Swift recruiter trying to pull the wool over your eyes.
Call the Wal-Mart DC in your area and find out for sure.

This whole thing smells very fishy. Plenty of us out here have never had an accident. Walmart is not going to hire a student. I think you might want to read this. http://www.classadrivers.com/phpBB2/...hlight=walmart

I spoke to a 30+ year driving veteran earlier today who told me that he has been on their waiting list for some time. I have spoken to a number of their drivers and have yet to hear or talk with one fresh out of school. It doesn't make any sense to hire an inexperienced driver when there are so many with years of experience who are waiting to get hired. Now the deal with Mexico may change all of that. :P

I don't know where you're getting your information, but none of this is true.

The Wal Mart deal is most likely one of the outside carriers like Swift, Werner, SNI who pull for them. While it may sound like a good deal, unless you are actually pulling Wal Mart trailers you can easily find yourself running OTR as the company finds loads back to that DC.

When I was in training for Swift, the trainer I had was a Kmart "dedicated" driver. In the 5 weeks I was on his truck we pulled maybe 4 Kmart loads. The rest were regular loads in the midwest region (Kansas Kmart DC) working our way back towards KC area.

Knight requires experience. 4-6 months depending on the terminal.

Crete will hire students from PTDI certifed courses and a few other schools that they are very familiar with and assuming your graduate with a 90% or better.

I think DAWN does. She'll be here any minute now to tell you all about it.

I THINK you are starting to "get the picture" about how trucking companies and their recruiters will , umm..... bend the truth a bit to get you to sign up. I suggest you broaden your search, and deepen your well of knowledge before making ANY decisions. Spend about a week reading EVERY thread you can on this board!

After that.... well, you're a "big rigger" now.... so make a choice and deal with it. Nothing in THIS business is set in stone! You'll have LOTS of options with your squeaky clean record!

Best of luck to you!
