Default Driving exp. vrs OTR ..

ok... dont know if this is where i can post this or not but here it is... ive had my class A since 2000 drove OTR for 2 diff co. for a total of 12 mths, then took a job with my current co after working (Not driving)for 2yrs, now i drive NH,MA,VT,CT,NY,NY,DE,PA,and somtimes down into Baltimore, but the truck i drive is not a semi, its a 22ft flatbed(HENO) been doing this for 14 mths, my question is as far as exp goes... what is countable? just the mths i drove OTR, or my last 14mths also?

If you are looking at getting a job driving a tractor trailer then your time driving a flatbed straight truck is not going to count for anything.

If you go for a job driving another straight truck then yes it should count.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but probably none of it would count to an OTR company. Most companies have restrictions like they want 1 year OTR within the past 3 years. Ex. You started out OTR, like you did, ran for 12 months verifiable and then you ran local for the past two years. That may count with some, may not mean squat to others.

Straight truck experience probably won't count with anyone. Most every company will want T/T experience. It won't hurt to call a few companies and ask, but this is probably what you will find.

Good luck.
