I just tried to get my DAC by calling the company who provides it and needless to say I am perturbed about the outcome.
In order to get your DAC, you have to submit a request in writing (according to the message on their phone). You have to send them a legible copy of your Drivers License, Social Security Number, and your full address. Normally I would not have issue with providing the information so I can get my DAC, however, I do not understand why I have to put something in writing when trucking companies, IMO, can access that information freely. Not to mention, I am not comfortable with exposing my personal information in any form aside from using a land line or secure internet connection. Does anyone have any advice on how I can approach this differently, or am I going to have to suck it up and hope my personal information does not get lost? Thanks

Trucking companies dont access it freely. They pay quite a bit of money to access it.
Why do you have to put it in writing? Legal reasons im sure. Plus it protects against fraud. If I ran a small trucking company and wanted your dac report because you wanted to work for me. What would keep me from accessing it the way you want to without all that written request? I could just call them up, give them your info that you gave me and have them send me a copy without having to pay for it.

You want a copy of your report, suck it up, do it their way. If you're unemployed, you may be able to get a copy for free. You should have the hard copy response back in a week to ten days. BOL
