That's amazing that so many drivers put up with this. Both OTR companies I've been with (TMC and Passmore) have been outstanding with hometime. Granted, when I started with TMC it was actually with their KTL division which was two weeks out at a time, but after about six months I had a talk with my dispatcher and I was home every week afterward. With Passmore, it's the same deal. Home every Friday afternoon or night, leave out Monday morning. If I request a day off for doctor's appt or whatever, they honer it without question. Why on earth would anyone go with a company that doesn't guarantee weekly hometime? I just don't understand it. And then they complain about it when they're out weeks at a time. NEWSFLASH: There are other companies out there besides Swift, Werner, US Express, JB Hunt, etc...

maybe you can get a local job.cold frosty mug is always on here telling people to go to one of those ltl jobs and get the union bennies for your
family. my bro inlaw retired from teamsters and he said they have trouble finding people who pass drug test. some companies dont want to deal with phone calls and applicants so they hire from state employment office or teamster office.my friend quit his otr job and just hauls containers of trash with a truck trailer and he is happy as a clam.

Fatman..you live in Southern Alabama...why not try finding an Alabama based Carrier...Like AMX...Alabama Motor Xpress...Cullman AL.
Look around Dothan...I believe there are a couple different Van operations based there, plus there are a couple decent flatbed operations in Alabama...McElroy Trucking and Greenbush are Alabama based companies...and Melton has a big new terminal in Birmingham. my .002

There's always that trade-off between hometime and money. I chose the money. My time demands and get togethers with friends are all gone but my creditors are happy. It was my descision. I think many drivers confuse Home-Time with Home-Life. A trucker has no Home-Life regardless.
