Is there any way to receive mail or packages while on the road? If I have a route planned a few days in advance, I ought to be able to have somebody send a package via 2 day air to someplace along the way where I'll be able to stop and pick it up easily. Will any truck stops accept delivery of packages on behalf of a driver who will be passing through?

If there was a terminal for the company you are working for along the way they might be willing to accept a package for you and hold it until you got there.

One thing I learned in short order back when I was a newbie is that things can change in half a second. Many times I have had loads canceled or rescheduled enroute and ended up going the opposite way I thought I was.

I have had fedex or ups drop off a letter / envelope at many t/a, pilot, petro, will have then put attn to the trucking company, truck number and name on the envelope, now this is an envelope not a big box or anything.
Will have it sent to the fuel desk and when I roll thru I can pick it up.

If you want a larger package sent I would check with the truckstop first and see if they would be willing to hold for you.

You might try getting a mailbox at a UPS store in your home town. They will collect and hold your mail and forward to another UPS store. They will charge you for the shipping to the other store. Have them ship it 2 or 3 day air. And then pick it up when you're in that town. If you get re-routed they can then forward again to you.

I have had things shipped to a truck stop where I knew I was going. For instance, I have had some papers shipped to me at the Alamo in Sparks, NV. I knew when I was going to be there and had them shipped to me care of the Alamo. It is a good idea to check with the truck stop manager prior to having anything shipped to you. FedEx or UPS will both deliver to most any truck stop.

This is actually a good question cause I've wondered it myself. I remember talking with some kid that traveled all over the place (not in a truck) that you can get things mailed to any post office in care of the post office. Of course with a truck it can be a pain in the rear to get to, but it's another option if it's true.

If you're pretty much running a regular Truck Traffic route just rent a Box at a post office.
I've had Base plates and special permits sent to Truck stops that I knew I was stopping at but I wouldn't totally trust Truck stops for your mail.

What I did was have my package mailed to my customer where I was delivering. I called the customer, talked to the office mgr, got a name and told her my ETA and woolaaa. When I arrived about 36 hours later, sure enough she had my package and everything went perfect.

Another time I was expecting another package but my delivery was after hours so I had the package sent to a hotel instead even tho I didn't intend on checking in. I just thought a big parking lot like a hotel to swing in, p/u my package and hit the road again was ideal. I asked the consignee and they told me a Super 8 was right down the road so thats where I had it sent. I called the 800# (they all have them) and got the local # for that Super 8. I called up and told them I was going to reserve a room - which they did - and I was expecting a package delivery sometime on the 14th and would they sign for it. No problem.

NOTE: You want to make sure you cancel your resv B4 6pm usually or you'll get charged for the room. I knew by then my package would be there anyhow so no big deal.

After I unloaded around midnight I swung by the hotel, ez in ez out, grabbed my package at the front desk, said "thank you very much" and went on my way never to be seen or heard from again.
