Default JB Hunt Home Time?

Hi, wondering if anyone has any experience with JB Hunt home time:

The JB Hunt recruiter my fiancee is talking with told him he could be home every other weekend, which sounds great (because I work all week, so if he is out 14 days then comes home for 2 weekdays, we are not exactly going to get any quality time together). But then we thought about the math and it doesn't add up...there aren't 14 days in between every other weekend. For him to be home every other weekend he would only be out 12 days, not 14, and that doesn't seem to jive with the 14/2 idea. Is the recruiter just telling him what he wants to hear and then when he starts driving it'll actually be totally different? I just found it hard to believe they'll let him come home every 12 days rather than 14, if the policy is 14 days out, 2 in. But then again, we're new to the OTR world. Any help is appreciated,

They used to have a 2 days off for 7 days out plan...

I'm not sure if they changed it, but I got home after 14 days almost like clock work and stayed home for 4 days then went back out..

If you husband is set up for OTR, he will do 14 and 2....or 14 and 4 if he wants to slipseat. So the every other weekend think wont work. However if he is set up for some OTR dedicated run, he could be home every other weeked. Example, the PPG OTR run does 11 on 3 off every other weekend (fri, sat sun). The international paper run does 12 on 2 off every other weekend.

Default No slipseating

Thanks Sheepdancer. They told him that because he is going to be dispatched out of Worcester, MA, slipseating is not an option and he will have to keep an assigned truck and get the "take two, bank two" option. I think he might need to dig a little deeper with the recruiter, perhaps. They told him he would be staying on the east coast, so maybe he is doing OTR regional. Thanks for the help, though! - Cave man's girl

Well that's what a recruiter tells you. He will be told at orientation that he has to request his home time in advance.....And they will try to work with him.

But the reality of what will happen will only be experienced.

My OTR reality was not good. More time sitting and waiting than hometime. And very little pay for my efforts.

Of course, I'm disgruntal. You will hear that here. And I too, was warned by members on THIS board. And I posted everything that went on.... where did that post go? That's right....a computer glitch in the server....hmmmm.

Wish you both the best of luck.

If you want to get home only on weekends you have to do 3 weeks out (if it's available). If you do the 14 out and then take 2 days off your not going to get many miles. Seems to work out best for me if I do 3 weeks out and then take 4 days off, you can get more miles in a pay cycle rather than taking 14 out you have 2 broken pay cycles (ends monday night, begins tuesday morning). With 18-21 days out you have 2 broken pay cycles and 1 full pay cycle, so far I have hit 3000 miles every week I get a full pay cycle in between 2 broken pay cycles. Seems complicated but it's not, when you head out from coming off a couple days off it takes awhile to start getting the good long runs, then when it gets close for the time to go home they keep you fairly close to home so you get the short runs. Weekends tend to be slow so you don't get many miles on the weekends unless you get lucky with a long 1000 friday to monday run. So throw the weekends on broken pay cycles it's rough, thats why it's best to try to stay out for 3 weeks at a time.
