Default MVR Question

I know this may sound like a stupid question to some of you veterans out there, but I am confused.

Over the past 10+ years, I have held valid drivers licenses (no CDL) with a motorcycle endorsement in the states that I lived......Washington State, Virginia, and now Texas.

As I am about to gear up for CDL school and all, I decided to order my MVR from each state just to see what it looks like and to make sure all was in order. BTW, I have never had an accident or ticket in my life (knock on wood).

So I get the Virgina report and it really says nothing but my info....DL number, experation date, that I surrended the license to another state, address, etc.......However I did notice that it says "Driver Point Balance: +4"

What does that mean? is that good or bad???

Default points

I am not sure how that state works but Missouri points are bad. I believe 10 points is a loss of license.

Ina few states, you start out with points and they get subtracted for each infraction, so that ZERO points gets your license pulled (at least thatis how it was some years ago). Maybe VA is one of those.

Just make sure your home state understands that.

Now that would make sense to me since I have never had a ticket or accident in my life.......in fact, i have only been pulled over once and that was in Texas for doing 73 in a 70 and was given a warning (again, knock on wood)

Chief, in Virginia the +4 points is a GOOD thing. It represents safe driving. The explanation can be found here:

Thanks all.......looks like you all were correct in that plus (+) points are a GOOD thing in Virgina. Here is what I found on their website.

Quote:
DMV uses a point system to rate drivers. You receive demerit points for unsafe driving and safe driving points for good driving. Demerit points are assigned when you commit a traffic violation. Different violations carry different point assignments, depending on the seriousness of the offense. Safe Driving Points are assigned for each full calendar year that you hold a valid driver’s license and drive without any violations or suspensions. You may also earn safe driving points by attending a driver improvement clinic unless you are under age 18. You can accumulate a total of five safe driving points and you may use these safe driving points to offset demerit points.
