Hey TIMBERWOLF, i'm just crackin on ya, I worked for CCC back in 05, i ran regional, and a ton of beer out of Jax. I was lucky enough to go 62, but it's such a pain in the neck when you run up on someone doing 61, especially with the VORAD yelling at you the whole time telling you you're too close. CCC is a decent outfit, i couldn't get on a local route out of brooksville hauling beer, i tried the tanker for a while but was not interested, so i just went back to my job hauling sod. Thanks for being courteous out there.

Hey Millersod,

I have no problems with the company, it is just like any job they have good and bad, honestly most of it really kind of sucks, however hauling beer is great and it gives me huge amounts of time at home which is the best payoff for myself and my family.
The eaton Vorad is simple to operate once you figure it out, for example hi-way 50 east from 75 to Groveland. (I live in Clermont) you get stuck behind the old man going 59 mph and you know you can't pass I just run with the orange light on and every 4 seconds let off of the fuel it automatically resets the vorad, I have received my full quarterly each and every time, I even get smiley faces on my monthly reports. There are some drivers who take aluminum foil, paint it black and then cover the front of the truck while they drive in the city. I never do that I just learned to manipulate the vorad it works pretty well. Some days 60 is great other days it drives me up the fricking wall.
I really try to be courteous to other drivers, however there are some out there who can be real assholes at the drop of a hat. no big deal it is what it is...

My truck number is 7227 if you pass me on 75 let me know.....

Have a great weekend...

Hey TIMBERWOLF, how long have you been with CCC? And how well do you do on those beer runs, are you on the same percentage plan as the other local drivers are on? Also, do you service all of florida, or do u have dedicated customers, when i was running regional i spoke with a local guy out of orlando who ran to Fort Myers and Naples the first couple days of the week, and then down towards the Miami area the rest of the week, i don't think he went to Jax, his loads were staged on the Orlando yard. By the way who dispatches you, do you know terry mccormick, or anyone in the corporate office over there in Auburndale? I remember a guy by the name of Steve who dispatched the regional loads, to make a long story short he's the reason i left that division, they kept me between 2 dispatchers, him and then another lady, i think her name was laurie, not sure though, if i could have been dispatched solely through her i think i would still be with CCC today, but hey it doesn't always happen that way, i'm happy where i'm at, and i know it's nice to be home every night and off every weekend.

That '73 tornado, wasn't the longest continous one?? Stayed on the ground for some 25 miles or something like that.
Yeah, that Xenia one was down for a long time. But there was one that went througn Tennessee last year, I think, that was down for something like 67 miles. Bunch of people died in that one, too.

Hey Millersod,
I Started with them in December of 2004, You know the rate I am now at 25% which just happened this last week. All I pull is Beer 98% of the time and I am happy with it, My checks for a five day week are anywhere from $450 to $475 take home after taxes and $110 or so in insurance. If I choose to work 6 days it will be anywhere from $500 to $550 depending on my runs. Sometimes it can be at least 50 to 75 higher if they are being generous with the manager's discretion pay and I pulled longer runs, i.e Sarasota or Fort Pierce it just depends. Like I said I wont get rich with them but the insurance is not too bad and my time at home is plentiful so I trade off one for the other. My wife does well in her job. Our backgrounds are from Food & Beverage Management meaning 80 to 90 hour weeks and all holidays and crazy flexible hours we lived to work back then, now we work to live it has made a huge difference in our lifestyle and family. It boils down to a fine line of what you want in life.

for the past 2 years I parked my tractor at the Carroll Fulmer yard in Groveland just up the road from my house, now I park it in Orlando as CCC is trying to save money and does not want to pay the yard rent.
However I still dispatch out of Auburndale and run anywhere on the East coast as far south as Fort Pierce, West coast as far south as Sarasota and everything in between.
Our dispatchers are pretty cool people, or at least to me they are, did you run a sleeper or a daycab? The daycab side seems to be nicer then the regional side, our dispatchers smile and say hi.

Have a good week.

Yeah, i ran the sleeper truck, i was as far north as New hampshire at times, and as far west as missouri. I tried my local division here in brooksville pulling tanker, but i just didn't like it. I work at a sod company, i've been there off and on for 4 years now, i do well for myself, atleast i think i do, i work five days a week, go in at 5:30, and am usually off no later than 3:30, 50 hours a week allows me take home right at 600 dollars, i'm 23 and newly married so i'm very happy with that. I make 13.50 per hour, i've never been a big fan of that percentage pay, but i'm with you, as long as you're happy doing what your doing, that's all that matters, if you're paying the bills and the family's happy, as far as i'm concerned that's all that's important. If you're down on 75 anytime, you can try to pick me out from the countless number of sod trucks running up and down there, i drive a white Mack with P/C miller on the side, truck 209, give me a shout, i monitor channel 19 so i'll keep an eye out for ya. I always liked the Jax brewery, i always just dropped and hooked, i'm sure you do the same, i did have a couple live loads, but it was a rarity. Anyway, keep in touch man, and stay safe out there.
