I have read many threads about individuals who were asked to leave orientation.
I'm curious to know. What are the most common reasons people are asked to leave orientation?
I'm planning on going OTR in about 2-3 months, and I'd like to avoid this situation if at all possible.

The four most common reasons drivers are kicked out of orientation are:

1. Failing a drug test
2. Failing a road test
3. Failing a physical
4. Attitude

Not necessarily in that order.

That being said...

1. Don't do drugs
2. Know how to drive and shift <-- that is a big one
3. Be aware of your health, blood pressure, blood sugar, etc.
4. Be happy.

When you are in orientation, you are under the microscope. So don't do things that draw attention to yourself. Listen, be honest, ask questions, and understand that your orientation is typically a 3-day interview for a job.

Well, I've never done drugs, I've been a tractor trailer driver (local) for over 10 years. My blood pressure is under control, and I'm not diabetic.
I like to think my attitude is pretty darn good.

Flood, the DAC & the MVR should be taken care of BEFORE a driver gets into orientation. That's one thing I never liked about a lot of these companies that work that way..."here's your invitation to orientation, we'll do the background check after you get here." Hopefully, though, more and more companies are moving away from setting someone up for orientation before they've started the paperwork.

I've seen people sent home because they didn't have a medical release. One guy broke his leg almost 20 years, ago. US Xpress said he needed a medical release before they could hire him.

So, if you have high blood pressure, I'm guessing that you would have to have a release signed by a Dr saying it's under control?
Wouldn't a current physical card mean the same thing?

Splitter, I have seen several sent home from here at Crowder (CFI orientation and boot camp) because they could not perform some of the required tasks. Backing, road test, shifting etc... And, yes several failed the drug test that they knew they would be taking when they got here...?

Don't forget a complete 10yr work history, which includes times of employment as well as unemployment. Saw a couple drivers booted from USX for not having proof that they were unemployed.

And, ya, drug test, physical, road test, dac, mvr, etc
