Default I passed

Hey all, long time no see. I'm just stopping by again to say I graduated Swift's driving school and got my class A CDL. Now I'm ready to go to orientation on Monday, and get a mentor after that. I can't wait. Thanks to everyone on this board for all your help and replies, and I hope to some day see you all out on the road.

Tom

Congrats! A few words of advice.

1) If your mentor tells you to do something illegal, stand your ground.
2) Opt to back to docks as much as possible.
3) If your mentor does team runs normally, ask for runs that would allow your mentor to coach you for the first 2 weeks.
4) Ask questions in orientation of what is expected of the mentor, as far as rules that they have to follow.
5) If your mentor has you do something that is different than what you where taught, have the mentor explain why he/she wants you to do it a different way.
6) Have fun! Enjoy your time with your mentor!
7) Pick up frequent fueler cards, and whenever you fuel, USE IT! It will get you free stuff (including showers).

Sincerely,
Ex Lewiston Swift Driver

Congratulations !!!! Tom, I'm going to Swift's school next week in Kansas, Then orientation in NY. I am from Mass, and I am wondering how the licensing works . Do you have to test in the state where you hold your license?? As a child my parents always told me to go play in the road , so here I go. Also how much time , if any do you get in between school and orientation?? Again congrats and good luck.

Bluesman,

I attended Swift's school in Richmond, VA and I'm from Pennsylvania. How it worked there was we took all the tests for Swift at the school (written, range, and road) then they set it up for me to take the CDL test back in PA. They will explain it to you and arrange it for you as long as you pass their school requirements.

As for the time between school and orientation, I am in that time frame right now. I finished school on the 22nd of January, and took my CDL test early today, which is the 25th. I then have to attend orientation on the 29th, so I got 4 days between the two. I don't know how it might work out for you, but I would have to assume you will get a couple days in between. Best of luck to you, and if I can help you in any other way, let me know.

Tom
