Even in OH, 9 out of 10 cops, wouldn't even look at you, at 5mph over!

Most likely, that 1mph over, got on the MVR after the "negotiations" in court!

Not always. I've actually asked a few times. One of them said it was a drop-down from 5 over. Several others stated "yep, I was 1 MPH over the limit." I've seen a few on Illinois MVR's, a couple in Indiana, and an Ohio, if I recall correctly.

I know of a CHP officer that patrols the I5 in central California. He will write a 1 MPH over ticket in a heartbeat .. as soon as you pass. He will let you by 5 - 8 MPH over as long as you can do that staying in the right lane. The point being is that you going slightly over the speed limit and passing presents a danger to the cars going 65 - 70. Of course if you speed along at 65 you present a different danger according to the California laws.

Not all officers agree.

Now Crackaces, you know that split speeds are safer than all traffic moving at the same speed.

First, please stop with the "i'm going to kill him" sort of thing. It doesn't help the situation.

It would help if we knew where you lived.

The improper lane usage thing probably means he was in the left most lane and in a lot of places you can't do that unless there are only two lanes and you are in the process of passing.

ain't gonna get into points or whatever over speed limit, just gonna say your hubby might be able to get job running trash regional, still big truck , or driving cement or local dump. might take a while to pay dues and get record straight, but that is price of breaking the rules. best of luck.

Hmmm Ron White has a great routine about Texas ...

Oh man do not get me started about split speeds .. and lane restrictions ..
One of my biggest beefs is the I10 -- CA60 split with a left exit. Just when is it safe when moving slower than traffic to get into the left lane for the exit? That is a place for a possible 2 for 1 ..
