Anyone know what happened to the truck driver in this incident? This happened in Oklahoma - Elk City area I believe - during an ice storm. There were 12 people in the van... 7 died on the scene.

What do you want to bet that these were illegals? I hope the driver and his company have deep pockets. I am sure that some crooked lawyer will file suit and try to make it the drivers fault.

I'm not so sure of that... it appears to be pretty well-established that the van spun out on the ice and crossed the median to the other side of the road in the skid. I'm wondering if the truck driver was injured... was he local to the area... is he okay? I didn't hear anything about him/her.Originally Posted by GMAN

You have to be going pretty fast to get across the median. I've seen jackknifed semis in the median.
Too fast for conditions = accident waiting to happen

The only thing I have heard is the conditions of the van occupants. The 7 killed were not wearing seatbelts and were either ejected or partially ejected, all died on scene. The other 5 were wearing seatbelts and pretty much released from the hospital a few hours later. The only way the truck driver might get something is if his logs were screwy. Police put fault on the van.
