Default Dump Trailer Rookie Survives......

So I've have survived my first week no tip overs, no dented bumpers, but I did tear my mudflaps off...lol... glad they bolt right back on. Thanks to all who left me tips, I think I had a little of it all in the first week, overheads potholes and electrical lines. But all went well and my truck is still on the rubberside. Did get to run between Tenn. and Jacksonville, and for all the helpful people out there god bless you for answering a rookies stupid questions.

Stay Safe...

Ahh - another bucket driver!

I've been pulling a dump trailer for about 6 months now. I usually dump twice a day, and that is the worst part for me. About a month ago, I saw one of our own trucks on its side, and I'll tell you - that put the fear in me for sure!

Now of course, we are into winter with the cold temperatures, and the added part of the load possibly freezing in the bed.

I think the best advice I have received from some of the older drivers, is to not get in a hurry. I have a routine now when I dump - taking my time to be sure everything is right and level before I pull the lever.

What are you hauling?

My old friend went from bedbugger to dump driver and he flipped a truck already. You have to be on PRETTY level ground otherwise the leverage of the rising trailer will flip ya and break your nose too!

Be safe out there.

Good luck. Didn't mean to scare you about tipping a truck. My point was a person with 20 years experience can still flip one. I was looking into dumps as an o/o in Chicago, kinda like what Floored did.

I have a full frame trailer which they say is less likely to tip. But the one that I did see on it's side, was a frame trailer just like mine, and was dumping on solid pavement.

Either way, frame or frame-less, it's still a scary notion to stick over 50,000 pounds 40 feet in the air!
