Default I'm done

Well sorry to say but looks as if my truckin is over. I enjoy it but just cant seem to make a buck here. I have been out on my own for 4 months now and can't seem to bring home more than 300 a week. I even opened my operating area but it is so slow and there is no work. the company I work for hire more and more drivers every day and there is not enough work to keep what they have busy. I have checked around and seems the only company's hireing are OTR and after 22 years in the military I will not live on the road. I dont mind a few nights a week but not weeks at a time. So you guy's stay safe out there my heart will always be on the road with you.

I am sorry things haven't worked out for you, Topper. Unfortunately, you came into this business at the beginning of the normal slow time of year. Things will slowly begin to pick up soon. By spring, things should improve. That is only a few weeks away. This time of year it is more difficult to find freight if you limit yourself to a small area. I would think you could stay busy and never leave the state.

If you're in Jax, FL, you might look in to Pritchett Trucking, they run dumps, and walking floors and you can choose between local or regional. Don't just give up so easily, look in to other options, being in Jax, i can't imagine it would be too tough finding a good local gig with a steady paycheck.

well not trying to tell you what to do but this is a really hard time of year to make any money. around the 2ND week of Feb. thins will really start to pickup. and by end of march things will usually be back to normal. not telling you what to do but a little advice is try and give it another chance and stick with it for 2 more months and you will see a tuen round in freight.

best of luck to you in what ever you decide to do, i just hope that you will give it a little more time before quiting. less than 1 more month of slow freight and then things will be back to normal.

I agree you are working for the wrong company.....take some time and look for better opportunities. Freight will pick up soon.

We have stayed really busy here at Arrow but we have stayed out of Texas and the Southeast.

Topper. Don't abandon ship yet. Make sure that you actually make contact with ALL of the companies that offer local positions. You will find that some are FIRM on the experience requirement. However, you will also find that many local companies are very negotiable regarding experience. You are in a large city. That is VERY much to your advantage. My current driving position advertised 2 years experience required. I was hired at 7 months. Your military career/experience is a great selling factor for you in the trucking industry. Take the time to make the calls before throwing in the towel! Look forward to hearing how it goes.
